Aadil Brar
Aadil Brar is an internationally experienced journalist and geopolitical analyst specializing in China, South Asia, and Indo-Pacific security. He has reported from Beijing, Taipei, and New Delhi, bringing rare on-the-ground insight to some of the most pressing geopolitical flashpoints of our time—including the India-China border crisis, Taiwan’s evolving defense strategy, and regional competition over critical technologies.
Aadil's reporting has appeared in Newsweek, BBC World Service, ThePrint, National Geographic, The Diplomat, and Devex. He most recently served as a defense and foreign affairs reporter at TaiwanPlus News, where he covered military modernization, cross-strait relations, and U.S. engagement in the Indo-Pacific. His work is marked by a deep understanding of regional dynamics and the ability to translate complex developments for global audiences.
In 2016, Aadil was awarded the National Geographic Young Explorer Grant for a field project on Tibetan cultural preservation, underscoring his commitment to immersive, research-driven storytelling. He is also a former Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fellow and a visiting scholar at National Chengchi University, where he conducted research on cross-strait political narratives.
Aadil holds an MSc in International Politics from SOAS, University of London, with a focus on Chinese foreign policy, and a BA in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia. He is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Mandarin Chinese, and reads French and Nepali, allowing him to access and interpret diverse regional sources.
